Haute-Savoie 2027: Bringing Elite and Amateur Riders Together
Since 2022, the UCI Gravel World Championships have been part of the UCI international calendar, confirming Gravel's place as one of cycling's fastest-growin disgciplines.
A distinctive feature of the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc is that the world's leading Gravel specialists will compete alongside thousands of qualified amateur riders.
With nearly 3,000 participants expected, the event is set to become one of the largest cycling gatherings of the Championships.
Competition Format
Gravel competitions take place over courses that can extend to nearly 200 kilometres, demanding several hours of sustained endurance.
Predominantly set on unpaved roads and gravel tracks, the courses cross a wide variety of landscapes and terrain, ranging from rolling countryside to challenging alpine routes, depending on the host region.
Châtel, un terrain d’expression idéal pour le Gravel
The Gravel competitions of the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc will take place in Châtel, in the heart of the Chablais mountains, just a few kilometres from the Swiss border and the birthplace of the Union Cycliste Internationale.
Although the route remains under wraps, its profile will be distinctly mountainous: forest tracks, high-altitude trails and alpine landscapes will provide a particularly demanding setting.
